The Chief Executive Officer of The Gambia OIC Secretariat, Yankuba Dibba, just announced that the Secretary General (SG) of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is on his way to The Gambia before the 15th OIC Summit.
More than 300 important people are also arriving today, he shared at a press conference held by the Ministry of Information. They wanted to update everyone on the happenings at the OIC-Gambia Secretariat before the big summit.
Mr. Dibba mentioned that out of those 400 cars, the government of The Gambia purchased 100 new fancy cars, the OIC-Gambia Secretariat rented 100 cars, and Mauritania loaned 100 cars. It cost over D100 million, which was covered by the government.
Mr. Dibba assured everyone that there will be enough food, cars, and accommodations during the summit.
However, there is one issue – there isn’t enough space for all the planes at the airport. So, Senegal has offered The Gambia the use of their old airport as a parking lot.
He clarified that all the important guests will still land in The Gambia, not in Senegal. Senegal is simply assisting with parking the planes.
Senegal even waived any landing or parking fees for the planes coming for the summit.
