Golden Alliance: Mali and Russia Sign Historic Refinery Agreement

Actualité

Mali’s military government has signed a four-year agreement with Russia for a gold refinery project in Bamako, aiming to process 200 tonnes of gold annually. The deal, valid for four years, allows Mali to control gold production and apply taxes and duties correctly. Gold is Mali’s leading export product and a significant contributor to economic growth. The project strengthens Mali’s relations with Russia, following the 2021 military coup and the withdrawal of French forces a year later.
