Actualité

The Minister of Environment, Rohey John Manjang, has issued a warning that this year’s rainy season may exceed normal levels, necessitating appropriate mitigation efforts, particularly in flood-prone areas.

During a site visit to these vulnerable locations, Minister Manjang emphasized the importance of preparedness in light of predictions indicating above-normal rainfall. The visit, conducted with other key stakeholders and organized by the National Disaster Management Agency, aimed to identify hotspots and prioritize areas for immediate intervention and logistical support.

“This year, the most challenging aspect is that we are expecting above-normal rainfall, according to predictions. So, we must come out to see whether we are prepared for the amount of rain that might come,” Minister Manjang stated.

The delegation, which also included the Minister of Works, Ebrima Sillah, toured several sites within the West Coast Region (WCR) and Greater Banjul Area to assess the situation and ensure preparedness measures are in place.
